The Eight Schools that a player can select in Age of Wushu, serve as the basic principles that they will live with in the game. While a player is free to learn other skills or take part in the same actions as other players, they must always remember the rules that their school abides by.
The rules or laws of a school vary depending on the beliefs and styles the school was founded on or practices. Evil schools are more lenient when it comes to certain deeds that a good school would cringe at the thought of. Some good schools wish a member to remain modest in style as well as performing good deeds across the world.
Those that do not adhere to the teachings and rules of their school will increase a Discipline rate. These are “warnings” given to a player by the leaders of their school and once the discipline meter reaches a certain number, that player is essentially punished by there school. The “punishment” is a debuff that removes a % the player’s power depending on how much the Discipline Value reaches. A player can wait out the punishment served by the school or return and repent for their transgressions to remove the debuff and reset the Discipline value, but this takes significant time away from other opportunities in-game.
The rules vary with schools some examples of popular rules are:
Wearing Clothes: Members wear some sort of clothing rather than running around in undergarments.
Robbing Escorts: The stealing of goods from carts is highly frowned upon by Good Schools such as Shaolin and the Beggars.
Breaking out of Jail: Serving your infamy punishment is part of the regards you must have for officials when you are a member of certain schools.
A lot of these rules are mostly followed by the truly good schools. The more devious Martial Arts Sects follow no such regulations, EXCEPT ONE. The one rule all schools observe, Never kill a member of your own school!
